Mission Statement:
We will deliver Custodial Service that provides an exceptionally clean and sanitary environment for students, faculty, and visitors for learning, teaching, research and work.

The Custodial Services department is the largest non-academic unit within the University. Custodial Services currently works under the management of Facilities Maintenance. This division provides daily cleaning and sanitizing for the University's classrooms, faculty and staff offices, labs, performance halls, lounges, restrooms, hallways, stairwells and all outside trash receptacles located near building entrances.

121 custodial workers clean 2,537,421 square feet of space. Normal working hours are Monday thru Friday from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Additionally, some staff work a 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday schedule in buildings that typically offer night courses.

Solid Waste

Solid Waste is collected and removed daily from campus receptacles located in parking lots, and throughout the campus. Waste is also removed from the interior of the buildings by Custodial Services staff.

All waste collected is delivered to a 2.4-cubic yard compactor with a 42-cubic yard receiver and compacted daily. The compactor is located in the Facilities complex. The compactor averages 413.5 tons of waste collected per year.

There are 55 strategically located dumpsters ranging in size from 4, 6, and 8 yards throughout campus. The City of Denton Solid Waste Department collects all waste from the dumpsters and the compactor on scheduled pick up days.
