Printer Support
There are two types of printers: local and shared.
You are now able to install a shared printer without the need of an administrator. This page outlines how to install a shared printer. If you use a local printer (a printer installed directly to your computer), you still need an administrator to install your printer for you.

Before you go through the following information informing you how to install a shared printer, check the following list to make sure a printer you want to install is a shared printer:

How to install a shared printer:
First, click on your start menu, then click on Printers and Faxes.
The window that opens lists your printers that are installed. In order to add a new printer, click on Add a printer.
Now the Add Printer Wizard will open. Click Next.
By default, the radial button to add "A network printer, or a printer..." is selected. If for some reason this is not selected, make sure it is selected. Click Next.
Also by default, Find a printer in the directory is selected. Double check this, and if it isn't, do select it. Click Next.
In the window that opens, click on Find Now.
A list of printers will appear. However, they are not sorted alphabetically. Click on Name to sort the printers alphabetically.
Once the printers are sorted alphabetically, scroll down to the section that starts with FACL.
All printers that Facilities IS supports start with FACL. After that, the printer names are broken down by:
- Location
- Department
- Printer Model
- Printer Type (BW or Color)
For example, the printer I have selected here is located in PPBS 126, is in Work Control, and is the Xerox-BW.
Double Click on the printer you want to install to begin the installation process.
Once the intallation has finished, this is the next screen to pop up. This lets you choose whether or not you want the printer you just installed to be your default printer or not. Once you have made your decision, click Next.
This is your last and final step. This is a summary of the printer you just installed. Once you verify all the information as being correct, click Finish.
